No more internet. No more email. No more texts. John’s Phone does what a mobile used to do (and rarely does now, if you own an iPhone like I do) perfectly fine — make phone calls. Self-proclaimed as “the world’s most simple phone”, it has no frills and no unnecessary features such as a camera, text messaging and an endless number of ringtones. You call, you hang up, and that’s it. It is a no-contract cell phone that is compatible with any type of SIM card. The phone has a standby time of more than 3 weeks, and the back of the phone features a small opening with an address book and pen.

While I certainly appreciate all I can do with my iPhone, I also wonder if I could get by with a phone that does what a mobile phone was initially designed to do. In today’s busy, always-on, always-connected world, I dig what John’s Phone has come up with. Priced at 79,95 euros, or about $114 US dollars as of this writing, I would be lying if I wasn’t tempted to try one out. If you are (or have been) looking for a mobile phone that just makes calls and that’s it, you might want to check these out. Priced right and beautifully designed, I think if word gets out about them they could sell a ton.
The last thing I want to use my pocket computer for is a telephone!
I have an Motorola Motofone F3 – it is also very simple. I really like it. It is way cheaper (was 20 Euros).
That’s all my Samsung does – phone calls, text, and an occasional photo of the grandkids…
It could do more – but I’m not paying for a data/internet plan because WHY would I?
ALl I want is a phone. My internet is at home and at work, and ALL I want is a phone! 🙂
Just because a phone can do more, doesn’t mean you have to pay extra for the apps so it does do more…
The idea is really inspiring-have a phone only makes phone calls 🙂
I used my current phone for about four years and all it does is making calls and sending text messages. It indeed has much more functions but most of them are hardly working now and I don’t have much problem with that^^ I think when my phone even can’t make phone calls in the future, I will change for a much light and simple one 🙂
There is a certain appeal to this. My dad would LOVE one. He’s got a flip phone at the moment and thinks its too much (he doesn’t text or anything). I’m a tech geek, and will be getting a droid when my contract comes up for renewal, but if I ever get into economic trouble or just get sick of the bill, I will probably look into getting one of these.
