What’s the worst that could happen, you don’t succeed? Will the world end because of it? I doubt it. Besides, if you never try than you never will even have the chance to succeed at all. And that is not a way to go through life at all. We only get one shot at this grand adventure – you better make the most of it.
In reality, pretty much the only person you can truly let down is yourself, just the same that the only person who can actually abandon you is yourself. Most of us think we cannot do this or that, but in truth we are afraid of letting ourselves down or failing at our goals. You have to change your mindset to allow yourself the freedom to TRY – even if you might fail. And if you fail, you have to try again.
Too many people stay in jobs they hate, homes they detest, neighborhoods they cannot wait to get out of. They want to try different hobbies but continuously put them off for another day. They want to ask someone out on a date, but they are afraid of getting rejected. They want to live a simpler, quieter life on a farm instead of their hectic life in the city…or vice-versa. But as they are thinking of all the things they want to do and not acting on them, time is going by; and you eventually run out of it.
Today is the day you must try the things you want to try
Today is the day you start putting into action your long-term plan
Today is the day you make the changes necessary to have the life you want
There really is no time like the present, and if you miss it…well…we all go away in the end. So for now, all you can do is try – and if that doesn’t work, try again.
What have you got to lose?
Yoda says… “Do, or do not. There is no ‘try.'”
But I agree with you (sorry Yoda) trying is worth it because every step we take forward offsets the steps we take back. The harder we try the farther we move forward. If we don’t try there is no offsetting force and we get carried away but the current.
Thank you for posting this. It’s an inspiring message that I often forget.
