It’s now Week 7 in the 10 Things Challenge and I am still managing to find more stuff to get rid of! It seems more of you guys are as well, as each week there are a few more comments from readers doing their own decluttering. I love the participation, guys! While I will have a big announcement coming up in a month or so regarding my “stuff”, I will continue with the 10 Things Challenge — and hope you do as well! This week will be a little different for me than past weeks, as I am getting rid of two boxes FULL of tools I don’t need or have duplicates of. There are in excess of 75 tools in these boxes, far exceeding my 10 things for the week. Take a look:

So, there you have it – 10 75+ more things leaving my house less cluttered. What 10 things are you getting rid of this week?
Week 7 (Hurray! 70+ items gone!)

2.Box of notepads,paper – Charity Garage Sale

I did the same thing a week ago. not 10 items but 3 boxes of knick knacks, vases, dishes, small plant pots, glass candle holders etc… All boxed and then picked up by Nuway. Wonderful to get home after work and see the boxes gone and a tax receipt.
Now to drop of the old towels to SPCA and a
like new, but can’t use storm door to Habitat for Hunanity.
surely two boxes counts as two things. where are the other eight?!!! ;o)
Looked in the garage and found…
2 hoes kinda rusty
1 hoe with tongs kinda rusty
1 duplicate flat edge shovel
1 unknown garden tool with spiky w inch wheel
1 plastic bucket not used
1 old bent metal snow shovel
ALL went to Habitat for Humanity
1 rusty no bottom bucket–trash
Whew, felt good
I continue to find stuff that our family no longer uses or doesn’t fit. I haven’t even begun to touch the tip of the iceberg that is Our Basement. Here is another list of what’s heading to Goodwill today:
1. Five sweaters
2. Four pairs of shoes
3. Deck of cards
4. Handbag
5. Lamp
6. Matching shade
7. Calculator
8. New hand lotion
9. 6 tee shirts
10. Ceramic iced tea picnic dispenser NEVER used – for 6 years, I’ve lugged this thing around. Why? Crazy.

I ditched 2/3 of my belongings!
I was moving from one small apartment to a slightly larger small apartment. Never knew I had so many things until it came time to pack it all up. I’ve always tried to hang onto silly things because they have sentimental value. I finally came to terms with the thought that, while some things do hold sentimental value and should be held onto, the majority of the things we hoard can either be thrown out or better used by someone else. It’s so easy to attach value to almost anything.
So I divided everything into three piles: Goodwill, family, me. Each had about 1/3 of my belongings and I proceeded. Now, I’m in the new apartment and the place looks so open, clean and comfortable. The next challenge I have it trying to jump on board your 10 things/10 weeks bandwagon. I might not be able to squeeze that many things since I just eliminated so much, but I’ll at least shoot for 5 things/10 weeks!
Thanks for the fun ideas!
Very funny iamellis 🙂
