I can only deal with the stuff that I've brought in. The garage is kind of a catch-all for the stuff that gets kicked out of the house...it's not a friendly environment and I really don't like being out there for long so often put off cleaning and organizing until I absolutely need to do it. You'll gain a sense of accomplishment early which will motivate you to contniue. Sort like items into categories like "car care", "Sports Equipment", etc. Give each "category" it's own zone.
