@Diane Full Disclosure: I want to introduce you to www.budgetpulse.com. These sites like Mint, Wesabe, sync personal bank information. Our tool has ZERO access to banks. Our users manually input their transactions or can import their financial bank statements in minutes, eliminating security risks. We never intend to sync personal account information because we ourselves do not want any security risks. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I would never put anything on line because I don't want my information in cyber-space nor do I want to be stopped from completing a transaction because of a power outage or lack of I-net service.

I've been writing checks for 50 years; keeping a cash-flow program that I manually handle as well, and find that my 'hands-on' commitment keeps my mind alert; keeps me in the 'mix' of things, and gives me the comfort of knowing that I'm in control 100% of the time.

I've heard too many horror stories about people who've tossed this process into the hands of the 'on-line' community and suffered identity theft; errors that are a nightmare to correct, and it takes me only 15 minutes once a month to write the entire monthly bills.

People only need to make a manual 3-year projection plan on paper; allow for contingencies, and learn the basics of accounting, so they can handle their expenses; learn to file their taxes and through the course of simple education, they'll do a much better job of understanding their particular economic profile if they come to know these basic principles so they don't make mistakes; rely on software programs, or 'hire out', these tasks which increases their cost of handling their financial affairs.

I see nothing wrong in utilizing soft-ware programs that one can install in their computer, and consider them 'tools', but at all times there should be hard-copy and manual expertise, to avoid having to drag a lap-top while on vacation, in order to pay bills and manage their financies or bookkeeping.

Good old paper; pen, pencil and a cheap calculator pack up well and using your own brain and going through the manual exercise, keeps a person truly in touch with the reality of what I think, has been sorely missing - thus, bad personal financial purchases and decisions because of the detachment that on-line processing causes.
