My library also ASKS for books... they use them in their used book store for extra revenue, they sell them on ebay if valuable, and they have big twice a year "Rummage" sales of books and current donated magazines at each of the 6 branches of the county library.

It's a big part of their budget.

Actually, my library put ads in the paper asking for books, so I beg to differ.

No offense, but please don't give your old books to the library. I'm a librarian and I can assure you we don't want your clutter any more than you do. People think libraries are like Salvation Armies for books.

Oh yes, Regina told me used sheets; towels, soap, shampoo, combs, and other personal grooming items will help since these 15 teen-agers have been put in the safe-house because one or more of their parents are abusers and/or users of drugs and alcohol.

It's a super-worth cause, and those 10 items that you call 'clutter', can be called 'miracles' to these people.

I've just done 60 items; I'll be boxing them tomorrow, and sending them to a safe-house that's run by a Lakota indian who lives in South Dakota.

If you want to write me to get the contact person's information so you can send un-needed items to a group of people who live in the 2nd most poverty-stricken place in the nation, write me at kcir114112@cmaaccess.com

Here is a bit from what information I've retained about their charitable efforts:

Program Needs:

ONE Spirit supports or helps support: emergency food banks, heater distribution, emergency home repairs (such as roofs blown off), micro-loans for business start-ups, emergency transportation, and cultural opportunities, such as the Big Ride. You can help by contributing to one or more of these programs. Our newsletter gives information about these programs and their success—please visit http://www.nativeprogress.org. Even if you are not able to become a regular sponsor, you might want to consider a contribution toward this fund.

Visit the web-site; you can contact Regina Hay who is the sponsor coordinator - I'll be sending about 10 boxes via USPO throughout the rest of this week.
